700 years has passed since Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor and King of Bohemia, was born.
Charles IV played a crucial part in the development of viticulture in the Bohemian Crown Lands as he arranged for grapevine to be brought from France. Moreover, in 1358 he issued an ordinance concerning the foundation of vineyards.
Therefore, our client, Bohemia Sekt, decided to celebrate this important Carolinian anniversary with an exclusive limited edition of 700 bottles of sparkling wine named after this great ruler.
The sparkling wine was made by the traditional method of fermentation in a bottle, exclusively from Pinot Blanc grapes, i.e. the kind whose spread here was promoted by Charles IV.
We were entrusted with a challenging task to prepare its design. Our intention was to combine two main aims. The first concerned the product itself. We hoped to highlight the exclusivity and top quality of the sparkling wine. The other was a dignified celebration of Charles IV and his key role for our viticulture.
The overall exclusivity of the packaging is underlined by the colour combination, high proportion of hand-created elements and also premium materials and technologies.
Elegant black-gold execution is accompanied by the details of the king’s emblems, e.g. wax stamp on the bottle neck.
The lettering “Karel IV” and all the ornaments were created entirely by hand. Regarding the printing technology, the hand-made paper was accompanied by gold stamping and embossed varnish.
Let’s toast this great man of Czech history!
